Turkish Airlines will begin operating a new service between Istanbul and Zaporizhzhia in Ukraine on 28 December.
It is the sixth destination in the country to be served by the airline, which also flies to Kiev, Odessa, Dnepropetrovsk, Lviv and Kherson. Zaporizhzhia is in southern Ukraine on the Dnieper River and one of the largest cities in the country.
The development enhances THY’s status as one of the world’s fastest-growing carriers, which it strengthened further last week by signing a code-share agreement with fellow Star Alliance member Avianca Brazil.
Avianca will add its code (O6) to certain THY flights to offer passengers access to Istanbul and connections to other selected destinations.
Similarly, the European carrier will distribute its passengers on Avianca Brazil flights beyond São Paulo under the TK code.
THY operates seven flights a week between Istanbul and São Paulo, which it says is one of the strategic gateways in line with its development plans to South America. www.turkishairlines.com
