Luxair plans fleet upgrade

The Embraer E190-E2 and Bombardier CSeries CS100/CS300 are both being studied by Luxair as a replacement for its two B737-700s.
The Luxembourg flag-carrier has already begun its fleet-replacement programme by buying a B737-800 from airberlin last month. The main scheduled line-up consists of seven Bombardier Q400s, six Embraer ERJ-145s, two 737-700s and three 737-800s, although the Dash-800s are operated mainly by the group’s leisure division LuxairTours.

It has already retired three of the ERJ-145s, which it says are inefficient and too small. They are being replaced by three Q400s on order, two due for delivery next month and the third in May.

The airline says it aims to decide next year on the 737-700 replacement, for delivery between 2018-19 and 2025.

Martin Isler, Group Executive Vice-President for Luxair, said that the fleet replacement would involve about five aircraft and would “probably” involve the E-190 or a mix of CS100s and CS300s in place of the two 737-700s and the Q400s.   www.luxair.lu
