Oriental food joins BA menus

British Airways has added a Taste of the Far East menu to its line-up of pre-paid inflight dining options for long-haul Economy passengers in its World Traveller cabins.

The menu costs £16 and features vegetarian sushi, prawn crackers with sweet chilli sauce, chicken pay ca paw with egg rice, wok fried vegetables and green-tea tiramisu. It is available now for passengers travelling from Heathrow.

It follows the successful introduction of five other pre-paid options – Gourmet Dining, Taste of Britain, Great British Breakfast, Healthy Choice and Vegetarian Kitchen, which BA says have been a great success.

All can be pre-booked via ba.com/managemybooking from 30 days before travel up to 24hr before departure and cost between £15 and £18.

Colin Talbot, Head of Catering, BA, said: "So far Gourmet Dining, which features poached king prawns, followed by beef cheek and then chocolate garnache for dessert, is proving our most popular dish, but we believe Taste of the Far East could be a contender.”

He said BA had worked on making the flavours authentic and each dish had been “specially designed to taste great at 30,000ft.”  www.britishairways.com
