Volotea's first UK service

Twice-weekly flights between Southampton and Majorca are being offered next summer by European airline Volotea. Southampton becomes the first UK airport to host the carrier, which began flying in April 2012.

The service will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays from May next year, departing Southampton on Wednesdays at 19:45 and arriving in Majorca at 23:05. Departures from Majorca are at 17:05 with arrival in Southampton at 18:40.

On Sundays the service will leave Southampton at 19:05, arriving to Majorca at 22:25, with departures from Majorca at 17:05 arriving in Southampton at 18:40.

Although primarily a leisure route, the flights will be of interest to property owners on Majorca and those having business there.

Based in Barcelona, Volotea was founded by the duo behind Vueling Airlines, Carlos Muñoz and Lázaro Ros, who are the new carrier's CEO and Managing Director respectively.

It operates a fleet of 125-seat Boeing 717s with Rolls-Royce engines and a configuration of five seats to a row.   www.volotea.com
