Qatar B787 for Birmingham

Birmingham will welcome the Qatar Airways B787 in March when the airline begins a Dreamliner service between the city and Doha.

The airline has announced it will fly the route eight times weekly, with two services on Saturdays, using the B787-8 with 22 seats in Business Class and 232 in Economy from 30 March.

Birmingham is Qatar Airways' fourth UK destination, after Heathrow, Manchester and Edinburgh.

Akbar Al Baker, CEO, said: “This additional route strengthens Qatar Airways’ commitment to the regions across the UK and will create new commercial links between the city of Birmingham and the 152 destinations served by the airline.”

Outbound flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays will depart Doha at 01:25 and arrive in Birmingham at 06:45, with the return leaving Birmingham at 09:15 and arriving in Doha at 18:05.

On Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, the outbound will depart Doha at 07:30 and arrive in Birmingham at 12:50, with the return leaving Birmingham at 15:00 and landing in Doha at 23:50.

Qatar Airways announced last month it will begin nonstop A350 service to Adelaide next year and has set 1 March for the launch of daily direct B777 services between Doha and Sydney (BTN 12 October).   www.qatarairways.com
