Birmingham Airport has landed its 11th new carrier this year after Czech Airlines announced it would begin flights to Prague five times a week from April.
The development by the Czech Republic’s flag carrier will deliver an additional 50,000 passengers a year through the airport and open up more connections throughout eastern Europe.
The five weekly flights will be operated by a two-cabin Airbus A319 aircraft, with 10 seats in Business Class and 120 in Economy.
William Pearson, Aviation Development Director, Birmingham Airport, said: “Prague is a new route for us, so we are delighted Czech Airlines has decided to introduce this key destination and onward connections to its network.
“We know from CAA data that 30% of the passengers travelling to Prague from our one-hour catchment area travel for business reasons so we’re also pleased the new service will offer Business Class on the route.”
Monday, Wednesday and Friday flights from Prague will arrive at Birmingham at 17:00 and depart at 17:40. Thursday services will arrive at Birmingham at 18:50 and depart at 19:30, while Sunday flights will arrive at 20:00 and depart at 20:40. www.czechairlines.com www.birminghamairport.co.uk
