Singapore A350-900 for AMS

Amsterdam is to be the inaugural destination for Singapore Airlines’ new-generation Airbus A350 fleet, the company announced last week.  Services are expected to begin by next April.

The carrier has 63 A350-900s on firm order, with the first due for delivery in January. Before the introduction of Amsterdam services, the aircraft will be operated temporarily on select Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur flights for crew training.

Singapore is due to announce more A350 destinations shortly.

The airline says the new aircraft will be fitted with its newest-generation cabin products in a Business Class, Premium Economy Class and Economy Class layout with new seats, and what it describes as the world’s most advanced in-flight entertainment system.

Lee Wen Fan, Senior Vice President Marketing Planning, said: “Our investment in the A350s is in line with Singapore Airlines’ longstanding commitment to operate a young and modern fleet.

“This highly-efficient aircraft will offer us the potential to open new routes, enhancing our network and further strengthening the Singapore hub.”

Singapore Airlines expects to take delivery of 11 A350-900s in the aircraft’s first year of operation. It has 63 firm orders plus options for 20 more of the aircraft.  www.singaporeairlines.com
