Major conference for Cranfield

Top speakers from the transportation industry and allied fields have been recruited for the 2015 European Aviation Conference, hosted by the Centre for Air Transport Management and being held this year at Cranfield University on 18-20 November.

Under discussion will be the future for airline liberalisation, reflecting a perceived trend within the industry of some stakeholders pushing back against the view that free markets are best.

Delegates will hear views on who benefits from free markets, what future markets might look like, what constitutes a level playing field and whether subsidies are inconsistent with it.

In addition to sessions devoted to these questions, the Conference will also feature a debate, this year on whether Gulf carriers distort competition,  and will conclude with a review of current and emerging issues.

Speakers expected to attend include Dr Temel Kotil, CEO, Turkish Airlines; Will Lofberg, ‎Vice President – International, Government and Environment Affairs, Emirates, and Klaus Geil, Head of Sector – External Aviation Policy, European Commission.

The line-up also includes Barry Humphreys, former Chairman, BATA; Laurent Timsit, Senior Vice President Corporate Strategy & Regulatory Affairs, Air France/KLM, and representatives of IATA, the World Bank and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).  www.cranfield.ac.uk/EAC2015
