Business Traveller Awards

It was back to the Royal Garden Hotel London Kensington for last week’s Business Traveller Awards ceremony. Best Airline went to Qatar Airways, followed by Singapore Airlines, Emirates and British Airways in fourth place.

Assisting Julian Gregory, Managing Director of magazine owner Panacea Publications Ltd, was Gyles Brandreth, sometime MP, writer and clearly not a fan of the Royal Variety Show. He reminisced about a visit to the London Palladium accompanying the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, when preparing his best seller Philip and Elizabeth. Her Majesty compared The Full Monty, that year’s top of the bill, to the native dancers in Papua New Guinea.

Among the 44 awards given out, easyJet was voted the best low-cost airline and Hilton gained first place as the leading Business Hotel Chain worldwide.

Controversially, Singapore Changi took the airport award for the 28th time. Nothing wrong with Changi but it is a three-terminal airport which makes it less easy to use.

Avis came first in the category for Best Car Rental Company Worldwide.   www.businesstraveller.com/awards2015
