BA’s upmarket Dreamliner

New levels of luxury flying on the Dreamliner have been unveiled by British Airways after the airline’s first Dash-9 model touched down on Wednesday at Heathrow.

The airline has 22 B787-9s on order and 12 B787-10s. Eight of the Dash-8 versions have already joined the fleet. The Dash-9 is bigger than the Dash-8 and can fly further.

It will also feature the new-generation First cabin with new storage areas, making BA the first European carrier to fit it to the model, and eight seats in First Class instead of BA’s usual long-haul complement of 14. This gives the Dash-9 four classes against the three – Club World, World Traveller Plus and World Traveller – in the Dash-8s.

Inflight entertainment also has a new look with a smartphone-type handset which BA says  will allow passengers to watch one item on the set itself and another on the 23in personal screen. The control for seat recline has also been upgraded and will now operate the lighting and headrests. www.ba.com
