Blue moves into Glasgow

Romanian carrier Blue Air will begin flying from Glasgow Airport for the first time this winter, starting with a new direct flight to its home capital Bucharest.

The airline will offer the service twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays from 17 December.

Francois Bourienne, Commercial Director at Glasgow Airport, said that the new service was likely to be popular with business travellers as it offered a key transport link to one of Eastern Europe’s central cities.

Gheorghe Racaru, General Manager, Blue Air, said: "Blue Air has seen steady development since its first flight about 11 years ago, with new routes, fleet increases and new services for passengers."

The announcement brings the total number of new routes launched from Glasgow Airport in 2015 to 23. Last month, Air Transat confirmed it would start direct flights to Montreal next summer, while Air Canada Rouge is launching direct service to its Toronto hub, Toronto Pearson, in June. www.blueairweb.com
