The fact that British Airways is adjusting the layout for its latest Boeing 787s (see in this issue BA gets wider) has prompted Business Travel News to take a look at Economy class seating in the current widebodies.

230” | 8 across with 17.5” wide seats Upper Deck
Emirates is proposing an 11 across version with less than 17” seats
Boeing | ||
B747 | 240” | 10 across with 18.5” wide seats |
B777 | 231” | 9 across with 18.0” seats and 10 across with 17.5” seats |
B787 | 216” | 8 across with 18.5” seats and 9 across with 17.3” seats |
Every airline has a different seat layout. Qatar Airways said in a statement: "Due to ever-increasing passenger demand across a range of Qatar Airways routes coupled with new developments in slimline seating, Qatar Airways will feature 10 seats abreast in Economy on all its new B777 aircraft” increasing from nine. BTN will be flying on both Vietnam Airways and Lufthansa in the coming weeks and will take a tape measure. www.airbus.com www.boeing.com/commercial
