Ryanair and car hire

Having ditched Hertz as its in-house car rental supplier (see  BTN  6 July) Ryanair has announced a new partnership with CarTrawler, a leading travel-technology platform and online aggregator of car rental services.

Whilst the arrangement gives the airline’s customers a wide range of prices and car availability it does mean that travellers are booking through a third party, which could affect contract liability.  Complaints to Hertz, if there were some, were easy.  Ryanair less so.  CarTrawler remains unknown.

While CarTrawler offers customers a direct connection to over 1,500 leading and independent car rental agents in over 30,000 airport and city locations, it is not the operator, unlike Hertz.  CarTrawler will add in its (hidden) commission to the price also, as well as Ryanair. www.ryanair.com
