ANA to Brussels

Brussels is to be directly linked to Tokyo for the first time.

ANA, now Japan’s largest airline, is to launch a new daily service from Narita to Brussels on 25 October.  The flight will be the only non-stop service from Japan to Belgium.  Brussels is the airline’s sixth destination in Europe, already established in Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, London, Munich and Paris.

ANA will operate a daily service in each direction using a two-class Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.

A Star Alliance member, ANA serves 50 destinations throughout Japan, as well as 23 points in the South East Asia region.

Osamu Shinobe, President and CEO of ANA, said: “As a major economic, commercial and political centre Brussels is an increasingly important market for us.  More and more passengers are flying between Tokyo and Brussels but they currently have to do so by transiting through other cities.  By becoming the only Japanese airline to offer direct flights to the city, ANA will dramatically improve access for passengers to and from Japan. We look forward to inviting passengers on board and enabling them to experience ANA’s quality of service."    www.ana.co.jp

Let's go back in time, to 1972: the Sabena B707 was flying once a week via Anchorage. There were also two others weekly flights via ATH-BOM-BKK-MNL !

Actually, Sabena flew the Brussels - Tokyo route for a long time. Not sure when it started but eventually it was a B747-300 route and was later served by the A340-300 when it was first introduced.
