Airport wi-fi

A strong internet connection is important when you are travelling, especially when you are working remotely.  The Rotten Wifi App found the top 10 airports with the fastest wi-fi and put them into a handy infographic.  Users of the app tested out and rated more than 130 airports in 53 countries around the world.  Europe has the most airports on the list with five – the United States has two.

The result emerged after a survey was conducted by internet speed-test watchdog Rotten Wifi.  Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi's wi-fi topped all with 41.45 mbps, ahead of the airport in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where the speed was measured at 30.99 mbps.

Dublin Airport ranked third with 19.45 mbps followed by Vilnius and Helsinki airports at 18.04 and 17.46 mbps respectively.

Suvarnabhumi provides two hours of wi-fi for free after a quick registration.

On the flip side, here are the five worst (each jumping between 0.1 and 0.2 mbps):

1. Gate 25 – Dalaman, Turkey
2. Puerta 23 – Parroquia Raul Leoni, Maracaibo, Venezuela
3. Sala De Embarque 93 – Bogota, Colombia
4. Sala De Pre-Embarque – Cuenca, Ecuador
5. Domestic lounge – Boksburg, South Africa
