IHG and Stay.com

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is to trial and selectively roll out several digitally-driven innovations to provide a more personalised and interactive experience for guests.  The announcement follows IHG’s signing in April of a landmark agreement with Amadeus, to develop a powerful cloud-based guest reservation system – a first for the hospitality industry.

IHG is collaborating with digital travel guide provider Stay.com to experience destinations in the same way a local would.  From 25 June guests booking with IHG at more than 50 key destinations globally will be able to use Stay.com to research and plan their travel, and create a personalised travel guide.  Included are tips, insights and recommendations.

Also being rolled out is a mobile check-in and check-out service giving guests the flexibility to manage their stay via their mobile device, including confirmation of arrival time and SMS notification of when their room is ready. It will also offer the final bill when they are ready to check-out.

IHG is testing new technologies in the US to support mobile room keys. These will give guests the opportunity to bypass the front desk when checking into their room.  www.ihg.com    www.stay.com
