A home revolution is about to take place. MK Electric, who claim to be the UK’s leading manufacturer of wiring accessories, has integrated a USB charging capability into its product portfolio. The new plug is the same size as the traditional unit. New properties should only be sold thus equipped and it is an easy replacement in existing installations.
Flat batteries are a real problem with travelling as we more and more rely on our hand-helds for our ticketing and general information. It is no good getting to the gate and finding that your PDA has gone flat. Many long haul airlines offer a USB download but this is not the case with regional flights. It is something BTN is campaigning for.
An online YouGov survey conducted by MK Electric revealed that, while 85% of travellers carry chargeable devices whilst travelling, over a quarter of this age group have lost contact with people they are travelling with due to loss of battery power on their devices. Moreover, according to the survey data, losing battery power can make travellers feel ‘very frustrated’ (39%), ‘anxious’ (26%) and/or ‘in a panic’ (13%) when they are travelling. www.mkelectric.co.uk

Surely, this is a socket rather than a plug, and similar ones have been available at Screwfix and Wickes for ages.
