Electronic mapping provider TomTom has introduced TomTom MyDrive, a website and app designed to seamlessly connect the car to the digital world.
For the first time, drivers can use their smartphone, tablet or PC to review real-time traffic information, plan routes, and send destinations to their TomTom GO, before they get in the car. It is another development of the 'Internet of Things'.
The MyDrive platform is open to developers and third parties. This means that innovative driving concepts and applications can be developed and implemented in the future – benefiting drivers all over the world. Connecting to the easyJet 'Mobile Host' (see BTN 20 April) maybe for the future.
TomTom MyDrive allows drivers to get going faster by sending destinations to their TomTom GO from their smartphone, tablet or PC. As soon as the driver gets in the car, they are ready to leave and at that point know their arrival time based on the latest traffic situation. www.tomtom.com
