Lufthansa Premium Economy

The retrofitting of the Lufthansa fleet with the new Premium Economy is on schedule says the airline.

This is being done type by type with all the Frankfurt-based fleet of Boeing 747-8 and Airbus A380 completed.

Work is progressing with the Airbus A340-300s, 15 of the 24 already completed.  Next up are the A330s.

The retrofitting is expected to be completed in autumn 2015.

Essentially the new class comes with a seat up to just over 1" wider depending on the type of aircraft.  In addition, the separate wide armrest and the centre console ensure extra privacy and thus in real terms 4”.  The backrest can be tilted further back and the seat spacing is 38”.  Personal space has increased by about half compared to Economy Class.  The adjustable headrest can be folded at the sides and gives comfortable support.  Height adjustable footrests are fitted.

With two pieces of luggage up to 23kgs, each passenger has twice as much free baggage.  For a surcharge of €25, passengers also have the opportunity to enjoy the amenities of many Lufthansa Business Lounges before their flight.  On board, Premium Economy passengers can expect an upgraded service.  www.lufthansa.com
