Smart screens at Heathrow

Heathrow T2 has seen the introduction of ‘smart screens’, the object to compare journey times and costs of the Heathrow Express to Paddington and black taxis for central London.

The screens – a world first – combine real-time traffic, weather and Heathrow Express train service information into one user-friendly data feed, or ‘journey comparison generator’, at the terminal’s baggage reclaim zone.

Fraser Brown, Director of Heathrow Express, said: “Research shows Heathrow Express trains are three times faster than taxis and a quarter of the price.  These screens show how that comparison varies minute to minute depending on traffic, weather and time of day.”

This summer the screens at each baggage carousel will be translated to the main languages of the arriving flight, and later in the year they will be installed across T3 and T5.  At T3 the newly installed signage to the Heathrow Express, is extremely difficult to miss, even for those with no knowledge of English.

For the future Heathrow Express is to add a departures and terminal listing to the train information screens on the every 15-minute service from Paddington.   http://youtu.be/dq7uhCOMR3g    https://www.heathrowexpress.com
