‘Comfort Food’ is the latest innovation from Luton-based Monarch Airlines, a scheduled carrier that uniquely specialises in leisure destinations (but does not turn away business travellers).
The airline says that the new on-board meals have been developed over a six-month period by their catering supplier Alpha LSG Head Development Chef, Carl Jones, following research into current high-street trends and customer feedback.
All the meals within the new menu come with a complimentary PG Tips Tea or Kenco Rich Coffee, which normally retails on-board for £2.50.
Dishes from the menu include the staple British classic of a full English breakfast; consisting of British pork sausages, grilled back bacon, scrambled eggs, button mushrooms and baked beans; as well as a classic slow-braised Kentish ale beef casserole with parsley dumplings and roasted carrots.
Vegetarians are very well catered for with dishes such as cheese tortelloni pasta; which is accompanied with a vine ripened tomato and basil sauce, roasted aubergine and courgettes; as well as a Moroccan style vegetable tagine with fragrant lemon and mint couscous. www.monarch.co.uk
