Heathrow Hub – The film

BTN readers will be very aware that the airlines of the world are waiting to hear the verdict this summer in the final report of the Sir Howard Davies UK Airports Commission sponsored by the Department for Transport (DfT).

Heathrow Hub, the independent proposal to expand Heathrow by extending the northern runway asked The Spectator to look into the different shortlisted options.  In a short video Isabel Hardman, Assistant Editor of The Spectator, has spoken to various experts from Heathrow, Gatwick and Heathrow Hub, to hear more about the three different proposals.

It is a very fair unbiased report.  The Independent’s Simon Calder makes the point, as previously highlighted by BTN, that London, with its six airports, is way ahead of any other city when it comes to air connectivity.  That is very good news for all of the UK.

As the originator of the piece Jock Lowe, Heathrow Hub director and former pilot, clearly feels that his scheme is the best.  “This excellent film, and Isabel Hardman’s investigative reporting, supports our own research that only Heathrow can support the economic aspirations of the UK and provide the connectivity that London and the UK needs as a major commercial centre.”

Simon, the 'World Capital of Aviation' isn't determined by the number of passengers it sees each year but by its political clout. No decisions of any import are made in London, they are made in Montreal, which is the Rome (or Mecca if you prefer) of aviation. To the Heathrow guy who said it is full all day every day. Not at night its isn't matey, which is half your problem. To Isabel Hardman, if you think we won't have to wait long for Davies' decision you're going to be disappointed.
