Italian airline traffic

The Italian aviation authority, ENAC, has published the total national airport handling figures for 2014 which shows that Ryanair is the top Italian carrier followed by Alitalia.  The figures are (in millions) Ryanair: 26.1, Alitalia 23.4. easyJet 13.4, Lufthansa: 4.5, Vueling 3.9, Meridiana 3.4, BA 2.9 , Air France 2.8, Wizz Air 2.7 and airberlin 1.9.

When it comes to the domestic market only Alitalia still dominates carrying nearly 13m passengers, followed by Ryanair with just under nine and easyJet not quite three.

With regards to European routes Rome Fiumicino – Paris CDG is the most popular at 1.1m but Amsterdam, Barcelona, Heathrow and Madrid are not far behind, all over 950,000.

Rome to JFK is the number one international sector with just under 620,000 passengers, followed by Tel Aviv at 574,000 and Dubai 561,000.  Milan Malpensa has nearly as many passengers to Dubai as New York, just over half a million.  www.enac.gov.it/servizio/info_in_english
