Last Saturday (4 April) Norwegian Air (DY) inaugurated a weekly Gatwick to Orlando International Airport (MCO) service in Florida.
This weekly flight follows a pattern by Norwegian of introducing a limited schedule on a route, establishing a presence and later expanding the operation.
Gatwick is the only London airport now serving Orlando direct with British Airways and Virgin Atlantic on a minimum daily basis.
A quick check for a week’s return flight on Saturday 2 May shows that it will cost £442 with DY (+plus per sector £28 for a meal and £50 luggage. Drinks are extra) Full service BA is £624 and Virgin (VS) £518. Expedia has on offer connecting London flights by legacy carriers from around £440.
Norwegian has seven Dreamliners in service but in two years' time it is expected to be 17.
