Vietnam Airlines to Heathrow

Seen as a major coup for Heathrow as it battles with Gatwick to secure the recommendation of the Airports Commission for the new London runway, Vietnam Airlines (VN) has moved into T4 joining its Skyteam partners.  It is the only airline on the non-stop route.

Vietnam Airlines will initially operate four flights per week from Heathrow, with two weekly departures to each of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.  For summer 2016 Vietnam Airlines plans a daily service to its homeland flown by the carrier’s brand new Boeing 787-9s.

Heathrow becomes the first international destination to be served by the VN's Dreamliner. The aircraft will feature in-flight wi-fi and fully flat beds in Business Class, and heralds the launch of Vietnam Airlines’ new branding and corporate identity.

John Holland-Kaye, Chief Executive Officer of Heathrow was a guest at a reception to introduce the airline and welcome the first incoming plane: “Vietnam Airlines’ move to Heathrow, the UK’s hub airport, is good news for Britain as it secures a direct route to an important growth economy, with more frequent flights and greater cargo capacity.  As a strategic national asset, only Heathrow can connect all of the UK’s nations and regions to global markets and make it easier for Britain’s exporters to win business and attract investment.”  www.vietnamairlines.com
