Aer Lingus – IAG latest

Ireland's Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe said last week that talks with IAG on a bid for Aer Lingus were "workmanlike and constructive" and that he expected the cabinet to decide whether to back the bid within weeks. Etihad is expected to be selling its just under 5% holding, at a healthy profit. Still no news from Ryanair, the largest shareholder.

The largest Aer Lingus shareholder, Ryanair with just under 30%, has still not made public its views, and a recent statement to the effect that any low-cost transatlantic aspirations it does have will not be under the Ryanair banner reinforces a view it would like to operate these services as Aer Lingus.

British Airways’ owner IAG made a €1.36bn bid for Aer Lingus in January and the Irish carrier's board recommended the offer to shareholders.

But the government has not yet decided whether to sell its 25% stake, a condition of the deal.  www.iairgroup.com  www.ryanair.com  www.aerlingus.com
