The prospective Tory candidate for the ‘safe’ Tory Heathrow seat of Uxbridge, Boris Johnson, has been speaking out on LBC regarding the Airport Commission.
Mr Johnson's planned hub airport in the Thames Estuary is dead in the water but the Mayor insists none of the other options will help solve London's airport capacity crisis.Speaking on 'Ask Boris', he told listeners. "I think all the options being canvassed by the Davies Commission are bad.
"It is perfectly obvious from what Heathrow are saying that they accept there would be huge extra pollution and huge extra cost as a result of trying to build a third runway at Heathrow.
"They've admitted that they want to pay out, I see, another £450 in compensation to 160,000 homes.
"That seems to me to be an admission of guilt, and merely a foretaste of the pollution, the noise pollution, they propose to inflict on not just west London, but on the whole of London.
"Parts of London...even south London, even Greenwich, even Lewisham, parts of south London that you don't think will be affected, currently, will suffer from noise pollution from airplanes. And I'm quite serious, we are sleepwalking into an absolute catastrophe here, for this city." www.boris-johnson.com
