Manchester Airport, in conjunction with Clos-o-Mat and campaigner Tony Clough, has launched brand new Changing Places disabled toilet facilities in each of its three terminals.
Costing £235,000, the newly installed amenities have been designed to meet the needs of passengers who have profound and multiple learning disabilities, and those who need the support of at least one carer, providing them with a safe and easy facility to use when travelling through the airport.
Tricia Williams, Customer Services Director at the airport, said: “From the moment Tony first approached us, we were proud to be able to support his campaign as he works tirelessly to raise awareness of Changing Places facilities on behalf of his sister, who greatly benefits from these. We really admire and respect the work he does”.
Clos-o-Mat has provided the equipment for the Changing Places which includes feaatures such as a height-adjustable changing bench, an overhead track hoist; a peninsular toilet, privacy screens and increased space, giving passengers and their carers the facilities they require.
To pre-notify the airport of a requirement to use the facilities, passengers or carers can contact the team on 0330 333 0304. www.manchesterairport.co.uk www.changing-places.org
