Birmingham Airport’s simulator

Whilst it may not be as large as the full size A380 and Boeing 777 simulators at West London’s Emirates Air Line, Birmingham Airport (the Dubai carrier has twice daily services) has opened a new flight training device in the landside arrivals area for those who are licensed pilots, aviation enthusiasts or people just looking to try something new.

Budding pilots can travel virtually anywhere in the world, choosing different airports and enjoy stunning scenery with panoramic visuals.  The simulator gives accurately simulated sound that creates a moving flight deck atmosphere via the hydraulic platform that responds to flying manoeuvres.

Users can fly either unassisted or with the help of a trained pilot.  The aircraft is a close copy of a Beechcraft King Air with Glass cockpit, 6-DOF Motion platform and 3-channel HD panoramic scenery.

All sessions start with a full briefing and friends and family are welcome to sit and watch the experience from inside the comfortable facility.

Prices range from £79 for 30 minutes to £199 for 90 minutes.   www.softeksim.co.uk   www.birminghamairport.co.uk
