Luton Airport record year

In what will probably see a rush of figures this week Luton Airport was first out of the blocks last Friday publishing its 2014 passenger movements, a record 10.5m and 8% more than 2014.

In his first statement as the newly appointed CEO (see BTN 20 October) Nick Barton, said: “2014 was a milestone year for the airport.  Record passenger numbers and the launch of a bold new identity to mark the start of the £100m transformation are all great platforms from which to start 2015.  Increasing numbers of air passengers chose to use Luton due to the ease of access from London and the surrounding regions and the great value air services on offer.  The transformation of the airport will continue to attract new airlines, new routes and more passengers, ensuring LTN becomes a leading airport for London, Luton and the surrounding regions.”

This development will increase annual capacity from 12m to 18m passengers by 2026 and bring about a raft of developments, including major improvements to transport links, including better road access to the M1, new car parking facilities, a remodelled bus and coach interchange and improved rail links.   www.london-luton.co.uk
