A new route from Gatwick to Heraklion (Crete) is amongst the expansion plans for Aegean Airlines in the UK for 2015. Heraklion (HER) will be served from 21 June with up to six flights a week. The airline will also renew their summer flight to Athens from Birmingham airport and the once seasonal Athens flights from Manchester are now an “all year” round service. Aegean offers both Economy and Business Class travel on ex-UK services with all passengers receiving complimentary on board food and drink.
This summer Aegean will fly to Athens from Birmingham (twice weekly), Gatwick (daily), Heathrow (up to three times daily), and Manchester (twice daily).
Aegean Airlines is part of Star Alliance and was originally created in 1994 by Vasilakis Group who still have a controlling interest. Over the years it has taken over various carriers and is today considered the successor to the once mighty Olympic Airlines although with a fleet of 36 Airbus 320 series aircraft it offers no long haul destinations. www.aegeanair.com
