A World Travel Market regular, Garuda Indonesia announced at the show that it will increase its Gatwick to Jakarta service to daily flights, up from the current five times a week using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The service started on 8 September and goes via Amsterdam.
Garuda refused to be drawn on the possibilities of flying to Indonesia non-stop, an idea suggested at the launch. At around 15 hours it would easily be the longest direct flight from the UK to any destination worldwide.
