SkyWork Airlines, the small independent Swiss airline, has moved its service to Bern, the capital, from London City to Southend Airport.
The twice daily flights (Monday to Friday with a single return operation both Saturday and Sunday) are timed to offer business people a full day at either end with the return in the evening.
Southend Airport has its own railway station and offers up to eight trains per hour to Liverpool Street in the City of London with a journey time of 53 minutes. It often takes less than five minutes from leaving the aircraft to arriving at the station platform. Passengers can transfer to the London Underground at Stratford Central, the previous stop, which offers Central and Victoria lines, plus London Overground.
Skywork has an extensive route network out of Bern and operates five of the very popular and fast 34-seat Dornier 328 turboprops. Besides being the capital city of Switzerland it is also designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It is a centre for skiing. www.flyskywork.com
