Expected to be open very early next year is the completely rebuilt Hotel Santa Chiara Venice. It is virtually opposite the railway station just by the Piazzale Roma and is a short walk to the cruise terminal. It will be one of the very few hotels in Venice to have car parking.
Previously a high-class 3-star property the Santa Chiara will emerge as a classic 4-star boutique hotel, possibly even equal to its 4-star sister establishment on the Grand Canal, the outstanding Venice Hotel Palazzo Stern. See ON TOUR
The original Santa Chiara offered 23 rooms and the new extension will add 21. Three are singles. The hotel has an annexe nearby, to the same high standard, which has 12 rooms, all disabled friendly. The property has its own private luxury motor vessel, ideal if you want a quick trip down to St Mark's Square. Present plans call for a breakfast room but the design will allow for a restaurant which is planned for the future.
The essence of the hotel is a 500-year-old Venetian palace, but with 21st century air conditioning and luxury fittings to the highest standard. Furnishing is typical Venetian style with big and luminous Murano glass chandeliers, splendid wall fabrics and precious furnishings. http://santachiara.hotelinvenice.com
