Aviation Club

The London-based Aviation Club of the United Kingdom returns next month with a full winter programme at its usual venue, the Institute of Directors in Pall Mall.

The first speaker on Thursday 18 September will be József Váradi, CEO of Wizz Air, the leading low- cost carrier in the Eastern European market.

The airline announced an IPO earlier this year but postponed this due to financial market conditions.  There have even been rumours of acquisition interest by Air France-KLM.  It describes itself as an "ultra low-cost" airline and has expanded rapidly since its birth, just 10 years ago.

József Váradi has led the airline since the outset, having previously headed up the former Hungarian national airline Malév where he undertook a major restructuring.

We will discuss with him the reasons behind Wizz's success and learn what is next for the company which some call the "Ryanair of the east".  www.wizzair.com
