BA747 First cabin closure

As part of its fleet renewal programme British Airways is retiring a number of older aircraft from the fleet including some Boeing 747-400s still fitted with the previous First cabin design.

These are known as 'Mid J' 747s with the World Traveller Plus cabin in between First and Club World.  Some of them will have their First cabin refurbished in due course but a very small number, approximately eight, will retain the existing cabin until they are withdrawn from service in 2015.

In an effort to keep to the standards expected in First, BA will drop its premier class on certain routes from 26 October.  The space vacated by First will be used for extra capacity in Club World.  This means that the Club World product will be offered to customers seated in both the Club World and the previous First cabin on these flights.

These aircraft will operate on the following routes to Heathrow (LHR):

BA275/274 Las Vegas (LAS)

BA289/288 Phoenix (PHX)

BA085/084 Vancouver (YVR)

BA043/042 (winter season) and BA059/058 (summer season) Cape Town (CPT)
