Monarch Chairman

Sir Roy McNulty, the affable and softly spoken Ulsterman, has become the Non-executive Chairman of Monarch Airlines Group.  He is also Chairman of Gatwick Airport Ltd.  Sir Iain Rawlinson stands down after five years.

Sir Roy is probably the most experienced administrator active today in the commercial aviation scene.  What is possibly not so well known is that he was Deputy Chairman of the 2012 Olympic Delivery Authority, responsible for very successful infrastructure programme culminating in the games themselves.  He was Chief Executive and Chairman of Short Brothers Plc before its takeover by Bombardier in 1989.  During his tenure Shorts assembled and developed the Embraer Tucano, still today the RAF’s basic trainer.

Other appointments include President of the then Society of British Aerospace Companies (SBAC) 1993 to 1994, Chairman of the Department of Trade and Industry Aviation Committee 1995 to 1998, Chairman of National Air Traffic Services (NATS) 1999 to 2001, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) 2001 to 2009.   www.monarch.co.uk
