London City to Guernsey

Aurigny has now confirmed that it will introduce a twice weekday service between London City and Guernsey from 8 September.  However it will be by Fokker 50 and not as suggested some weeks ago by the smaller (and much less comfortable) Dornier 228.  (see BTN 14 July).

The State airline of Guernsey, Aurigny recently upgraded its Gatwick services to the Bailiwick by introducing an Embraer 195 jet onto what is the busiest route into the island.

Stansted is another Aurigny gateway served on a daily basis, this time with an ATR72.

The Fokker 50 is a popular aircraft at the dockland airport, and is used by CityJet on many routes, wet-leased in from sister company VLM.

“As a world-renowned international finance centre, Guernsey relies heavily on its links with London both for business opportunities and to link up with colleagues on island or in the City” said Mark Darby, CEO of Aurigny.  www.aurigny.com
