AND FINALLY: “Austrian Rock”

For some time Airbus has been engaged in programmes to limit fuel burn.

Possible solutions include alternative ways to position airliners at the end of the runway prior to flight. The company has looked at various options, including electric motors on the main undercarriage, but it transpires all they needed to do was speak to Austrian extreme sportsman Franz Müllner.

Better-known as ‘The Austrian Rock’, the muscleman accomplished another world record recently when, using sheer muscle-power alone, he pulled a Boeing 777 out of the hangar!

However, the Austrian Airlines aeroplane, with an unladen weight of 142 tons, only moved a distance of 14.5 metres, so there’s some way to go yet before The Austrian Rock can make a living from towing aeroplanes around the airport!
