Chris Lockwood

We have seen the last of one of the finest ever travel trade reporters.  Chris Lockwood has sadly passed on. He was in his early 70s.

Chris came into the industry as a reporter on TTG in the mid-60s, going on to become aviation correspondent.  He went to New York, working for Travel Management Daily for a while; and was also PRO for Court Line, the first Tri Star operator in the UK, a position that suited him well.  At Airline World, where he was Editor, he conducted a fine tabloid in its day.  With offices in Dering Street, by Bond Street, London, it had a location within one mile of most airline offices (and opposite the Duke of York pub).  They were soon to move west.  He also edited Air & Business Travel News when it was a printed publication.

In later years Chris was a pretty prolific freelance and was seen regularly at the major air shows, working on daily newsletters. His wife Joyce, to whom we offer condolences on the loss of her partner, worked for government, rumoured in MI6, and was equally good company too.  Chris had a terrific sense of humour (which he delightfully turned into print) and was a great chum on press trips.
