Cyprus Airways has announced to the Nicosia Stock Exchange that it is to sell its last Heathrow slot pair to American Airlines for US$31m, which will “enhance the company’s liquidity for 2015." Cyprus currently operates non-stop flights from Lanarca International Airport to London and said that it will transfer this route to Stansted Airport, with a change in both frequency and flight times.
The sale is effective 13 September and Cyprus will begin flights to Stansted on the 14th.
Currently Cyprus Airways competes with BA at Heathrow, who has a daily service. Monarch flies out of both Gatwick and Luton, but easyJet Gatwick only. http://cyprusair.com
