Dreamliner and Thomson

Thomson Airways, the first UK operator of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner will operate its four aircraft on all long haul routes from winter 2014.

Mark Hall, Director of Product at Thomson and First Choice, said: “We are pleased with how the Dreamliner has added to our long haul programme, but we are not resting on our laurels.”

Complimentary drinks are being added in the Economy cabin and the in-flight entertainment changes every month.

Dave Burling, Managing Director, Tui UK and Ireland, added: “Our main competitors are BA and Virgin Holidays and we need to compete against them and level the playing field.

“BA and Virgin compete with us to Florida and Cancun. Our seat pitch is better so if we match them on complimentary drinks we will be up there.

“Eastbound we have to look at competitors such as Etihad and Emirates who are a threat, although they don’t have a Premium Economy offering.”

In addition, the operator’s long haul prices are set to fall.

“From summer 2015 our prices will, on average, be lower at launch compared with previous years,” said Hall. Both were speaking at the TUI trade launch for summer 2015.  www.thomsonfly.com
