Some time back BTN asked readers if they could name an airport with a gym area airside. There was not a single positive response. It was assumed by your Editor that with most airports requiring considerable walking such a requirement was not needed. Passengers automatically keep fit. However Frankfurt, one of Europe’s largest hubs, has added what it called a ‘fitness area' to a much larger airside VIP lounge it has now opened.
Its new home is situated in Pier A and covers almost 1,200sq m. A novel feature is the fitness area, which allows guests to work out on state-of-the-art equipment before or after a long flight.
All passengers can book Fraport’s VIP Service regardless of their airline or travel class – whether for departures, arrivals, or stopovers, and for both scheduled commercial flights as well as flights by private or corporate jet. Staff members perform the check-in procedure for passengers as well as all entry and exit formalities. Limousines are available to drive guests straight to the aircraft or pick them up. This allows users of the service to enjoy a relaxing stay in the lounge, using their time just as they choose.
The VIP package costs €298 plus VAT per guest and €110 for each accompanying person. www.frankfurt-airport.com
