ILA Berlin Air Show 2014

Airbus is to showcase an A350 XWB test aircraft at the German Air Show (20-25 May) at Berlin ExpoCenter Airport, in practical terms part of the Schönefeld/Brandenburg airport site.  Also on display will be an Airbus A400M military transport.  A feature of the show is some 60 conferences, workshops and a lecture programme.

Berlin always plays second fiddle to Farnborough and Paris.  This year Boeing will not be making an appearance.

Major advances continue to be made with alternative fuels for use in aviation.  At the show leading representatives of the bio-fuels industry and the air transport sector are meeting at the Alternative Aviation Fuels Pavilion (AAFP) in Hall 2.

New commercial products and developments, innovative joint ventures and the latest technology from all over the world form the main focus of the combined stand organised by the Aviation Initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany (AIREG).  Manufacturers of bio-fuels from the USA, France and Brazil will present market-ready alternatives to fossil kerosene, including Amyris, a new technology that enables sugar cane to be used as a raw material, and Solena, a process being conducted jointly with British Airways in London to obtain kerosene from the city’s refuse.  www.ila-berlin.de
