Heathrow CEO appointed

As previewed in last week’s  BTN,  Heathrow Airport Ltd has quickly named a new Chief Executive following the surprise resignation of Colin Matthews.  From 1 July 2014, John Holland-Kaye, currently Heathrow’s Development Director, will become the company’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Holland-Kaye led the team for the development and construction of the new Terminal 2, which The Queen will officially open on 23 June, the building operational from 4 June.

As Development Director, John has been responsible for delivering the £1bn annual investment in transforming Heathrow, including the new terminal.  He joined the company as Commercial Director in May 2009, and was responsible for a 30% growth in retail income and improved passenger experience.

John was previously Divisional CEO with Taylor Wimpey Plc, Operations Director at Taylor Woodrow Plc and Divisional Managing Director at Bass Brewers Ltd.  A tall and personable man, Mr Holland-Kaye is at ease with the media.  Having seen T2 implemented he will now have the task of persuading the Airport Commission that Heathrow should come first as far as a new runway is concerned, and at the same time overseeing a major development of the central area.  He also has to keep happy a mixed bag of international owners.  www.heathrowairport.com
