London Shangri-La finally opens

One of the world’s finest luxury hotel groups will finally realise a long time ambition on Tuesday (6 May) by opening a London property.  Sited by London Bridge Station on the south bank of the Thames The Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard will have a low key, soft entrance.  Whilst it will certainly quickly attract a certain type of client its success depends on the quality of service matching, or even bettering, other 5-star properties in London.  Hence the slow start to ensure a seamless introduction.

It will be London’s first high-rise hotel with 202 rooms and suites and venues including the GŎNG bar on level 52; signature restaurant TING on level 35 and an artisan deli LANG on the ground floor.  There is a swimming pool in level 52.

“Our continued expansion in Europe reflects the growth opportunities for the brand and portfolio,” said Greg Dogan, President and CEO, Shangri-La. “The Shard is a landmark synonymous with London and we hope to encourage visitors to our hotel, and the surrounding area.  We are truly excited to be an integral part of the ongoing development of the South Bank community and the borough of Southwark.”  www.shangri-la.com
