SAS baggage

Scandinavian Airlines has simplified its additional and special baggage charges, cutting prices and introducing a simple weight rule.

The complimentary baggage allowance is one 23kgs checked bag per passenger in SAS Go, the airline’s economy service, and two 23kgs bags in premium SAS Plus.  The new rules mean there is now a simple charge of €45 per additional 23kgs bag for all European flights.  With the weight the only rule that applies in SAS Go or SAS Plus, the new simplified policy also includes all types of special baggage such as skis, golf clubs, bicycles, sports and fishing equipment and musical instruments.

Additional baggage prices have been cut with this new system, as well as simplified.

Snorre Andresen, SAS Product Manager comments: “We are making flying cheaper and simpler for everyone travelling with extra baggage.  We have listened to what our customers want and are delighted to now offer what is probably the simplest pricing model for all types of baggage in the airline industry.  Now you can even include a large surfboard in your free baggage allowance when flying with SAS.”

The only exception to the new tariff is baggage that requires manual handling, eg animals and weapons.  www.flysas.com
