Qatar Airways officially joined oneworld last week in a typically flamboyant ceremony at Doha. It is the 13th member (plus 23 affiliates) of the world-wide alliance.
British Airways was the sponsor airline which somehow highlighted a complication at Heathrow where the sumptuous Qatar lounge is at T4, with the rest of oneworld in T3.
As part of a massive rebranding programme oneworld logos are being applied by the side passenger entrance doors on Qatar Airway’s entire fleet of 130 aircraft which will also see the alliance's logo added virtually wherever the Qatar Airways name is displayed – at airport check-in desks and signage, on its website, tickets, boarding passes and all items of stationery. oneworld is being promoted with one of the biggest marketing campaigns in the airline’s history, an extensive advertising campaign to highlight the new alliance's services and benefits available to customers.
All cardholders in its Privilege Club frequent flyer programme are being sent new membership cards, bearing the oneworld logo and “gemstone” tier indicator, to ensure they receive their alliance benefits when travelling throughout the entire oneworld global network. www.oneworld.com www.qatarairways.com
