Aegean marches forward

With the takeover of Olympic Air completed (See BTN 14 October) Aegean Airways is now pushing ahead with ambitious targets for 2014.

The airline plans for 15 new destinations and in total more than 250 routes in 2014.  New from Athens will be Abu Dhabi, Beirut, Birmingham, Hamburg, Hanover, Catania, Copenhagen, Marseille, Nantes, Nuremberg, Paphos and Zurich.  Dubrovnik, Ljubljana Oslo and Stockholm will also be added.

The combined airline will carry around 8.4m passengers this year, the two fleets compatible, Olympic now a mainly regional operator with Q400s and Aegean flying Airbus A320 series aircraft. www.aegeanair.com
