Qantas to get new lounges

The lounges war is warming up and business travellers are the beneficiaries.  Qantas has announced details of new exclusive areas in Hong Kong (HKG) and Los Angeles (LAX) ahead of their official openings in 2014.

Qantas International’s Chief Executive Officer, Simon Hickey, said that Qantas is focused on leading the way when it comes to setting the standard for premium travel.

“Our customers consistently tell us that Qantas lounges are a key part of their journey.  And the success of our new Singapore lounge reaffirms our strategy of investing in international lounges which are just as important for our customers.

Opening in March, the Hong Kong offering will include classics from Qantas Consulting Chef Neil Perry’s Rockpool and Spice Temple restaurants plus panoramic views across the airport overlooking Qantas gates from a feature bar.  A Family Zone is also included.

The new Los Angeles Business Lounge will be jointly owned by oneworld members Qantas, Cathay Pacific and British Airways, with Qantas being the manager.  The LAX experience will be twice the size of the current lounge offering, with nearly 600 seats.  The lounge will partially open in April 2014 with completion in the second half of 2014, to align with the Tom Bradley International terminal redevelopment. www.qantas.com
